Back from Maui

Our trip was nice… we didn’t plan much… just one luau. We bought boogie boards again and spent a full day stopping at different beaches (about 6 or 7) between Lahaina and Wailea. We also went swimming in the ocean at night off the beach by our hotel. We did take another kayaking / snorkeling trip with just 2 other people in the group. It was more focused on the snorkeling and we saw over 20 turtles over 3-4 feet in diameter, lots of fish & and an octopus. Maria actually touched one of the turtles they were so close! The water was clear with beautiful, colorful large coral heads. Much better than Florida…at least for 30 years. We found a very hilly hiking trail about 3 miles long and hiked it 3 times. It took more than an hour and our muscles were very sore after-wards, as the incline must have been over 60 degrees at times. We went to a very nice restaurant called Mama’s Fish House. We visited the small grocery store in Paia again and bought a pineapple. We walked along the shops in Lahaina probably 3-4 times. We watched the sunset twice. Maria bought some jewelry and I bought a Hawaiian shirt and Kona coffee. We ate half our meals for free in the club lounge at the Ritz Carlton in Kapalua… The wine was free too! :-) We had a great time. We rented a Mustang convertible and had the top down 90% of the time, but we never made it to the road to Hana… so we may have to go back someday.
